Pets are increasingly present in our lives, we establish very close ties with them and they are increasingly important to us. Consequently, the demand for pet food, has increased, leading to a market with a wide range of products. At Rotor Print, we believe that it is just as important that the petfood packaging process is carried out to the highest standard of hygiene as it would be in the food sector.
Animals are very special when it comes to food, and any slight alteration in the end product (smell or taste) can reduce the animal’s appetite. At Rotor Print we make flexible materials for pet food packaging with a strong barrier, preventing smell from escaping, and extending the food’s expiry date without it losing its taste.
For materials used in packaging animal food there are several options. Those normally used are triplex materials (three layers) composed of PET, PET MET and PE. PE mono materials are also currently used. These are very interesting due to their high capacity to be recyclable (being a single material).
In addition to barrier qualities (for smell and flavour), animal food packaging needs technical qualities to offer a friction coefficient adjustable to customer needs, as well as resistance to impact and puncture.

At Rotor Print we understand that each product is different, so we focus on the needs of each product. Among the range of products, we find: dry croquettes, foods with a high degree of moisture, biscuits and sweets and semi-moist foods. The most common flexible containers for animal feed packaging are Stand up bags (Doypack), Pillow bags, bags with inserts and bags with three sealed sides.
