ROTOGRAVURE PRINTING

The rotogravure printing system is the origin of the company, the system with which we started working in the flexible packaging sector. The company’s mission has always been to offer the best possible quality in the end product, which is why we have always perfected our printing system in line with technological advances. Our technical staff’s great specialisation and experience in the sector have always maintained us at a high printing level.

ROTOGRAVURE PROCESS

In the rotogravure process, 4 basic elements are involved: ink, press roller, engraved cylinder and doctor blade. El primer elemento es el cilindro grabado, que es dónde se graba el diseño deseado con pequeños huecos (realizados con cabezales de diamante). The first element is the engraved cylinder, which is where the required design is engraved with small holes (made with diamond heads). Thanks to the pressure of the press roller and the surface tension of the substrate, the ink is transferred directly by capillarity from the cells of the printing cylinder to the material to be printed. The printed area passes through a dryer and is fed into the next printing unit (different colour, varnish or coating).

ADVANTAGES OF THE ROTOGRAVURE PRINTING SYSTEM

The rotogravure printing system is compatible with different types of finishes; tactile varnishes, metallic pigments, paper effects, etc. Rotogravure printing also allows high-quality prints, even in large-scale. It is additionally characterised by the great speed of the processes and the system’s efficiency in long-run projects.

The main advantages of the system are:

  • Stability during the printing process
  • Great possible repeatability (due to the cylinder material)
  • It is not deformed under pressure
  • Direct printing
  • Possibility of printing on a very wide range of products
  • Great print quality
  • High quality on a large scale
  • Possibility of printing with several inks without them overlapping
